“I guide organic matter into enduring, tactile forms, creating sculptural works that invite a slow, sensory encounter with nature”

Paola Di Legge is an Italian artist based in Dublin, Ireland. Her practice focuses on sculptural, wall-based works created from preserved botanicals—exploring how we experience and perceive the natural world.

Inspired by the landscapes of her childhood in Italy and her adult life in Ireland, Paola translates the distinct light and textures of these environments into her work. Her approach invites the viewer to slow down and look closer, using earthy materials to evoke a sense of grounding and presence.

The Practice

Paola Di Legge’s practice explores the relationship between nature, material and perception. Her work focuses on how we experience and remember natural environments—capturing a sense of immersion, stillness and awe through botanical sculptural forms.

Fascinated by textural manipulation and the organic properties of her medium, Paola is a self-taught artist who has spent years refining her technical mastery over diverse natural materials. Her process is one of intentional slowness and deep material inquiry. Working with sustainably harvested mosses, bark, amaranth, ferns and botanical elements, she has learned to navigate the unique characteristics of each species—understanding how to transform their weights and shapes to move beyond the flat surface and into three-dimensional botanical works.

Through years of material research, Paola has developed a visual language that balances the fragility of the living world with structural resilience. She treats these botanicals not as static elements, but as a versatile medium that can be layered, woven and shaped into complex forms.

By translating these natural patterns into tactile, contemporary forms, she invites a moment of pause—bringing a grounding and restorative presence into the interior space through a slower, more attentive way of looking.
