Artist Profile

Paola di Legge is a self-taught artist working with preserved moss and organic materials to create textural works. Using materials that have been professionally preserved to maintain their natural qualities, she focusses on how organic elements can be shaped, layered and reconfigured into compositions that retain a sense of life and movement.

Di Legge’s work explores the balance between the natural and the constructed. She is interested in how irregular, organic materials can be guided into different forms. Each piece develops slowly through a hands-on process, where the behaviour of the material plays an active role in shaping the final outcome. Elements are individually selected, prepared and applied by hand, building up layered structures that create depth, rhythm and flow across the surface. This approach allows the work to emerge gradually, guided as much by the material itself as by the initial composition.
