Preserved amaranth work by paola di legge.JPG

Stillness in Motion interprets the landscape as an evolving system shaped by time, erosion and movement rather than a fixed geography.

Crafted with preserved amaranth filaments, the work holds organic material in a state of suspension, reflecting a natural world that is constantly changing, yet momentarily fixed in our perception.

This exploration of fragility and permanence offers an intimate encounter with materiality and rhythm. It invites reflection on our desire to define and control the natural world, even as it remains beautifully unpredictable.

Care & Longevity

Crafted from preserved amaranth, this work is designed to endure with minimal intervention. It should be displayed indoors, away from direct sunlight and heat or air vents, to maintain its vibrancy and structure. No routine maintenance is required; if needed, a gentle pass of cool air from a hairdryer will remove dust.

Artist Statement

My practice explores the relationship between nature, material and perception. I am interested in how we experience natural environments rather than describe them.

I draw inspiration from landscapes and natural phenomena. These references guide the structure of my work yet I deliberately resist rigid systems or precise definitions. Instead, the work remains fluid, mirroring the complexity and variability of the organic forms that inspire it.

Working primarily with preserved plant materials, I am drawn to their capacity to hold both fragility and endurance. Texture, depth and colors are central to my process, encouraging a slow and attentive way of looking.

Through these sculptural wall-based works, I seek to create contemplative spaces that allow for an intuitive connection with the natural world — shaped by sensation and presence rather than definition or control.
